Built to Support Homeschoolers & Teachers
We help take the guesswork out of science and nature learning.
Recent national studies show a truth many educators feel every day. 96 percent of science teachers say it’s important to have materials aligned to state standards, yet only 37 percent believe the resources they have actually meet those standards.
Another survey found that 60 percent of educators believe their science materials need major updates to match today’s expectations like the NGSS.
Because of this gap:
- Only 30 percent of teachers use a core science curriculum
- Half rely on supplements or their own self-created lessons
- Many spend hours searching online for usable materials

At Pond Pals Academy, we’re building resources to help fill this need. Whether you're a homeschool parent, a classroom teacher, or a caregiver guiding early learners, our story-driven STEAM adventures, printable packs, and mini-games give you ready-to-use lessons designed to inspire curiosity and confidence.
And with Ferdi the Frog as your AI teaching assistant, you’ll always have help connecting science to your child’s world.
What Parents Think
My daughter loves One Rhyme At A Time! We read a chapter every night before bed. Silly Rhymes is also her favorite game!
- Deb N.
I wasn’t sure if my child would be interested in ecology, but Silas made it fun. Plus his voice is so soothing!
Now, he loves going outside to inspect our pond for debris. Thanks for igniting a love for water biomes into him!
- Janice S.
As a homeschool family, we’re always looking for science resources. Our children are on different levels, but all of them can learn from these modules. I love that it’s story driven and taught by the characters themselves. It’s helps them “get it” in a way that I can’t as “mom” Ferdi is a hoot sometimes!
We’ve bought the books and are looking forward to more!
- Cindy J.
All I can say is #TeamFerdi! We’re a frog loving family and Ferdi has become our favorite! We love how he was inspired by a real frog too. Stuart is awesome!

Pond Pals Academy is designed with the spirit of NGSS in mind. Our story-based modules help children explore real-world phenomena, ask questions, investigate nature, and think like young scientists. While not a full replacement curriculum, our lessons strongly support NGSS-style learning for ages 3–10.
How our content connects to NGSS:
- Phenomena-based exploration: kids investigate frog life cycles, water habitats, insect adaptations, sound, and more.
- Three-dimensional learning:
- Science & Engineering Practices — observing, modeling, asking questions
- Disciplinary Core Ideas — life science, earth science, ecosystems
- Crosscutting Concepts — patterns, cause and effect, structure and function
- Real investigations through story: kids make sense of natural phenomena with guidance from Ferdi and his friends.
- Teacher & homeschool support: printable packs, guided lessons, games, and inquiry-based activities help fill the gaps left by traditional science materials.
What to look for in NGSS-aligned materials:
- Clear Performance Expectations (PEs) listed by the creator
- Transparent design showing how materials were built with NGSS principles
- Braided three-dimensional learning instead of isolated facts
- Phenomena-driven lessons that spark student questions
- Use of trusted review tools such as the EQuIP Rubric or PEEC
How educators can verify NGSS claims:
- Ask which Performance Expectations the material supports
- Request EQuIP Rubric reviews when available
- Check whether students actively investigate phenomena — not just read about them
Pond Pals Academy continues to grow with new inquiry-based lessons, games, and printable activities designed to support the way NGSS wants children to learn: through curiosity, exploration, and real-world connections.
